VOLATILIS
VOLATILIS is an experimental dance film starring contemporary dance artist Anna Seymour as Aronui.
Set against a shifting, volatile landscape, the film follows Aronui’s journey through heartbreak, transformation, and renewal. It explores the connection between emotion and place, using movement and environment to reflect the character’s inner experience.
The film is scored by experimental music collective THE NARCOLEPTOR, featuring Theremin artist Miles Brown and harpist Mary Doumany. VOLATILIS is a cathartic exploration of emotion through space—a meditation on connection, belonging, and the delicate interplay between human feeling and the natural world.
ANNA SEYMOUR, a Melbourne-based Deaf contemporary dancer, communicates in Auslan and English and currently performs with Candoco Dance Company in London, UK. Born profoundly Deaf, her movement embodies both resilience and sensitivity, shaping the film’s profound physical and emotional language.
